Route 77 in Virginia and hills?

We will be heading to Charleston, SC from Cape Cod, MA this weekend.
We usually make our way to 81 south and then take 66 east to 17 to 95.
I was considering staying on 81 and then taking 77 south to 26 east.
My only concern was how the hills are on 77 in Virginia? I didn't know if there were some long inclines and if I should try this route or just take 66 to 95.
If you have an opinion on the better of the two routes I would appreciate your advice.
Thank you in advance.

RE: Forest River Rockwood 8317SS or Jayco LGT 30u

We purchased our 8317 at the beginning of last summer from RVDirect - it was a 2008.
We have very much enjoyed this TT. We did need to caulk inside the shower as the water would drip underneath when using it. We also drilled small holes in the door track of the shower to allow water to drain back inside the tub as it was filling up with water. But since caulking, no more problems. So far the Concertone system has been working without any problems. The only strange thing is that when filling the fresh water tank, it will only fill 1/3 of the way and then start coming back out. It is the strangest thing. It appears that there is some sort of an air pocket being created? Haven't taken it in to be checked, but will do so after the summer.
This TT has a lot more storage than I initially thought. We were concerned that the cabinets above the sofa and dinette would be useless given their size but they are fine given the storage available elsewhere.
We did order ours with the table and chairs rather than the dinette and have been real happy with this set up. I think you will be happy with either the Rockwood or Jayco but wanted to let you know of our experience with the Rockwood. I remember being in your situation just last year - trying to decide between those two units.

RE: Question for all Forest River Owners

You are smart to install a center support.
I installed an awning cradle support on my new trailer ($30.00) to prevent any sagging. What I have noticed is that it is the bumping along the road that causes the awning to start to bend.
My awning was much too long, in my opinion, not to come with one already installed. Seems like it should have.

Power Jack Tube Diameter - Rockwood 8317?

I have finally decided to install a power jack on my Rockwood 8317. I think I will purchase the Barker 3500 and didn't know if the 2.25 inch size will fit? I see that Mantelli on Ebay is selling it for $179 plus shipping and that seems like a good deal.
For anyone who has installed a power jack on a rockwood 8317 do you know if the 2.25 fits? I just didn't want to order it and then have to ship it back.
Thanks in advance.

RE: 4th of July Traffic around D.C.?

Thank you DarkRubiTJ for the suggestion to travel the Eastern Shore. I have gone that route previously when going to Virginia Beach but hadn't really thought about it for Myrtle Beach.
Thanks too JasonD for your comments. Now I don't feel so foolish having asked the question in the first place. You understood exactly what I was asking regarding traffic on the 5th of July. I wasn't planning on driving in downtown D.C. just around the beltway.
Thank you very much!

RE: 4th of July Traffic around D.C.?

I very much appreciate all those that helped me with this question and offered both suggestions and alternatives.
I knew that there would be events going on for July 4th but didn't know about that Saturday, July 5th. Never having been to D.C. I didn't realize that the traffic around D.C. remains busy even on the weekends. I was only comparing it to Boston where the traffic on the weekends can often be neglibile and therefore it makes sense to drive through the city instead of going around it.
Thanks for your help because I really didn't know anything about the traffic in that area except that at times it can be very bad. I will plan on taking an alternate route.

4th of July Traffic around D.C.?

I have a question regarding the traffic around D.C. the weekend of the 4th of July. We will be going to Myrtle Beach from Massachusetts. Usually we take Routes 78 - 81 - 66 and then back to 95 south of D.C. We do this to avoid the traffic around D.C.
We will actually be traveling on July 5th which is a Saturday and I was wondering if the traffic would be light enough that we could save some time and miles by taking 95 south through D.C. I am thinking that people may already be at their destination and therefore the roads wouldn't be quite so busy? Then again, maybe there is still a lot going on in D.C. this weekend and I should avoid the area and stick to my regular route.
As always, I appreciate your comments and advice.

RE: Pirateland WiFi Update?

As always, thanks for the links and the information about the WiFi at Pirateland. I guess we will see how it is working when we get there but thanks for the info in advance.

Pirateland WiFi Update?

In July we will be staying at Pirateland in Myrtle Beach. My wife will be taking an on-line course and will need internet access.
I searched the forums for info on the WiFi at Pirateland but the information was a little dated. Has anyone been lately who could let me know how the WiFi is working and the signal strength. We will be staying on the beach side. The cost is somewhat immaterial given the convenience of having internet in the RV but I would be curious as to what they are currently charging?
Thanks for your help.
